What is an email verification code and how does it work?

What is email verification code and how is it different from SMS code?

It’s an extra layer of security that’s used to register and manage an email PayID. When you set up an email PayID, we’ll send you a verification code to that email address. We’ll also email you a verification code if you want to lock, unlock, transfer or close the email PayID.

Email verification code works in a similar way to SMS code, but remember, it’s used for different things. Email verification code is only used for your particular email PayID, whereas an SMS code is used for a PayID linked to your mobile number (plus other things, like increasing your payment limits or paying a new recipient). This means you can’t use an email verification in place of an SMS code (and vice versa).

What if I can’t access my email?

Keep in mind that we can’t register an email PayID on your behalf – you’ll need to have access to your email address. If you need to lock, unlock, transfer or close an email PayID, but you haven’t got access to the email address for that particular PayID, get in touch with us and we’ll be able to do it on your behalf.

Why am I not getting my email verification code?

  • It can take a few minutes to come through, so allow a bit of time or refresh your emails
  • The verification code has been sent to a different email – you can register up to 5 email PayIDs so you might’ve checked the wrong one
  • It’s been sent to your junk or spam folder
  • Your internet or email provider might be blocking these types of email – if this is the case, get in touch with your provider
  • You’ve previously registered an email PayID but then deleted your email address – if you’ve done this, get in touch with us.

What do I do if my email verification code is frozen?

To reset it, you’ll just need to get in touch with us.
