How do I keep my accounts and cards secure while travelling?

Travelling isn't supposed to be stressful. Here are a few security tips to keep your banking safe, so you can spend your trip doing things you enjoy.

Simple steps to bank safely overseas

1. Tell us you’re leaving

By letting us know when you’re going overseas, we can keep an eye out for suspicious activity on your account. Let us know in online banking by filling out the Overseas Travel Notification or log into the Bankwest App and select ‘International’ from the main menu.

2. Protect your details

Always keep your PIN and secure code a secret. Make sure they aren’t written anywhere someone else could find them.

3. Separate your cards

Keep your cards in different places so you’ll have a backup if one of your bags is lost or stolen. Read more about what to do if you do lose a card.

4. Keep an eye out

Check ATMs and electronic facilities for suspicious devices. If your transaction is made over the counter, ask for a cancellation receipt if you’re told your transaction is unsuccessful.
