How do I access and activate my card before it arrives?

Before your physical credit card arrives in the mail, you can log into the Bankwest App to access your digital card. This means you can start using it immediately in some cases where a physical card isn’t needed (such as online shopping and Google Pay).

To activate your digital card:

  1. Log into the app and select the ‘cards’ tab in the right-hand menu
  2. Select your new credit card from the list
  3. Select ‘view card details'
  4. Select ‘view your contract’ to accept the terms and conditions
  5. Confirm your identity to view your digital card details.


Once your digital card is activated, log into online banking to set your PIN. Select ‘self-service’ from the left-hand menu. Then select ‘manage my cards’ and choose your card from the ‘cards to manage’ drop-down menu. Choose a 4-digit PIN and confirm your identity.

Once your physical card arrives, you’ll need to activate it using the instructions you’ll receive with it. You can keep using the PIN number you have set up for your digital card.

How do I activate my card or payment ring?

An easy way to activate your card or payment ring is via online banking. Once you’ve logged in, select ‘self-service’ in the left-hand menu. Then, select ‘manage my cards’. Select the card or payment ring you wish to activate from the ‘cards to manage’ drop-down menu. Enter the expiry date printed on the card (if you’re activating a payment ring the expiry date is printed on the activation letter). Choose a new 4-digit PIN if necessary, and enter an SMS code to confirm your identity.

If you don’t have access to online banking, please call 1300 796 844 and follow the prompts to activate your card.

If you’re an additional card-holder, the primary cardholder needs to activate their card before you can activate yours.
