Bankwest has appointed the experienced Rebecca Mitchell as Chief Information Officer (CIO).
The WA-based financial institution’s first female CIO, who has been with Bankwest for more than 13 years, enters the role having most recently held the position of Chief Operating Officer.
EGM Bankwest Sinead Taylor said Ms Mitchell’s strong customer focus, leadership abilities and broad experience would be strong assets in her new role as CIO.
“Rebecca’s passion for delivering the best outcome for our customers, and her extensive knowledge of Bankwest will be invaluable, as she plays a major role in supporting the financial wellbeing of our 1.1 million customers across Australia.”
“Her experience in successfully leading teams across technology, delivery, strategy, and risk portfolios, along with Rebecca’s commitment to delivering simple and friendly everyday technology solutions for customers make her ideal for the CIO role.”
Ms Mitchell started with Bankwest in 2007 as a Senior Network Engineer and progressed to Project Manager, Digital Portfolio Manager, and Program Director, before overseeing delivery of Bankwest’s risk and regulatory responsibilities.
She holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree, Majoring in International Business and Electronic Commerce from Curtin University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Western Australia.
Ms Mitchell replaces former Bankwest CIO Andy Weir who left Bankwest in December 2020.
