Bankwest collecting foreign coins for UNICEF

Bankwest is calling on all Australians to help turn their loose change into positive change, thanks to its new partnership with UNICEF – the United Nations Children’s Fund.

Whether it be rupees, rand or rubles, Bankwest is proud to announce it is now part of UNICEF’s Coins for Kids program and is happy to accept donations from the public.

Bankwest Head of Community Engagement, Craig Spencer said he was pleased the WA-based institution could help UNICEF make a difference for children around the world.

“Donating your leftover foreign change via any Bankwest store across Australia will help provide the most disadvantaged and excluded children worldwide access to a quality education,” Mr Spencer said.

“It’s amazing to consider that the spare coins tucked behind your couch cushions or scattered in some old suitcase donated to UNICEF via Bankwest could make a tangible difference to the lives of underprivileged children.”

UNICEF Australia Chief Executive, Dr Norman Gillespie, said that loose change, no matter how small, could make a big difference.

“An incredible amount of positive change is possible on a global scale as a result of a relatively small donation made up of your old foreign coins. We’re very grateful for Bankwest’s support for children through UNICEF,” he said.

Customers, and the general public, can turn their loose change into positive change by visiting a Bankwest Store and donating their foreign coins:

  • $1.00 provides a child with essential school materials like pencils and paper
  • $4.60 buys exercise books for 10 children
  • $5.50 buys a soccer or basketball for kids to play in the schoolyard

Find your local Bankwest store and start turning your loose change into positive change today.

All domestic and foreign currency donated will support UNICEF’s work for vulnerable children.
