Create and use your PayID

Get paid faster by sharing your mobile number or email address instead of your BSB and account number. PayID is a faster, simpler and smarter way to receive payments.

What’s a PayID?

A PayID is a unique identifier linked to your bank account and used to receive payments. It’s something that’s simple and easy to remember, like a mobile number or email address.

After you set up your PayID, share it with people that need to pay you (like when you're splitting the bill at dinner) instead of your BSB and account number to get paid almost instantly.

PayID is part of the New Payments Platform (NPP), a major industry initiative to enable faster, simpler and smarter payments in Australia.

You can choose to register your mobile number or email address as a PayID and link it to an eligible bank account, or you can continue using your BSB and account number. Either way, you’ll benefit from the major improvements.

Why use PayID?

It changes the way you pay.

The NPP allows for faster payments. When you use a PayID, money is transferred almost instantly, 24/7.

No account numbers necessary. PayID allows you to send and receive payments to a created PayID.

PayID shows you the registered user's name before you press send, to make sure you get the right person.

We’ll automatically send your payment as a Faster Payment if it’s made using our app, or you can choose this option in online banking.

Frequently asked questions

How many PayIDs can I register?

You can register 1 mobile PayID, and up to 5 email PayIDs.

How does PayID work?

Your PayID is linked to your bank account. When you need to receive a payment, you don’t have to worry about sharing your BSB and account number – you can just share your PayID (your mobile number or email address).

PayID will help to make sure you're sending money to the right account, too. When you make a payment to a PayID, you'll see the name of the person who owns that PayID before you approve the payment. All you need to do is confirm it's the right person, and the money will be transferred almost instantly because PayID uses the New Payments Platform (NPP).

Is PayID safe?

Enjoy peace of mind with our No Loss Security Guarantee when you use the Bankwest App or Bankwest Online Banking (BOB).

Which accounts can I link my PayID to?

Most of our bank accounts are eligible to link to a PayID. Your eligible accounts will show in the Bankwest App or Bankwest Online Banking when you start setting up your PayID.

You can also link multiple PayIDs (like your mobile number and email address) to the same account.

How do I transfer my PayID from another bank to Bankwest?

First, you'll just need to use the other bank's app or online banking to allow the PayID to be transferred (there should be a button that allows you to put it into transfer mode). You'll then be able to set up your PayID with us, using either the app or online banking. Find out how.
