Bankwest’s recently launched new look website, bankwest.com.au has been awarded the Interactive Media Awards™ (IMA) Outstanding Achievement Award for the "Banking" category.

The IMA is an international industry award recognising the highest global standards of excellence in website design and development. The awards are judged by an independent panel of leading web designers, developers, programmers, advertisers and other web-related professionals.

Bankwest Head of eCommerce Jane Muirsmith said, "With the launch of bankwest.com.au our goal was to deliver customers a rich, innovative and user friendly experience online. We're honoured to receive this recognition from the Interactive Media Council™, demonstrating that Bankwest's new website is world-class."

The IMA judges commended the Bank stating that an award of this calibre is extremely challenging to win. In judging the award it was noted the website had excelled in all areas of the judging criteria and represented a very high standard of planning, execution and overall professionalism.

Since launching the website in March, Bankwest has seen total unique visitors on average increase by up to 25%. Through the website Bankwest services more than one million retail and business unique visitors a month.

This reflects the significant investment the team made into developing the website that offers a unique and differentiated website experience for personal, business and corporate customers.

The site utilises functionality that is reflective of online shopping sites and not seen elsewhere in the financial services industry. The website also encompasses a powerful search tool and a simple, more satisfying online browsing experience.

The new website has also coincided with the launch of a new iPhone application enabling customers to use the most popular features of personal and business online banking. This mobile banking application is downloadable from the iTunes app store for free.
