West Australian Ballet’s Cinderella
27 May 2011
At Bankwest we just love fairy stories…especially the ones with ugly step-sisters, a handsome prince, a glass slipper and a gloriously happy ever after. Okay that’s just another way of spreading the word that we’re happy to be the sponsor of the West Australian Ballet.
West Australian Ballet Leading Artist, Jayne Smeulders, has spun a tale of magic and delight in her first full-length choreography for the Company. Allan Lees, designer of the spectacular 2010 production of Don Quixote, created sumptuous new costumes and a beautifully restored and re-imagined set for this family ballet classic, performed to Sergei Prokofiev’s evocative score. We’re told audiences were delighted with the May production.
Bankwest have been a proud sponsor of the West Australian Ballet for the past two years and have recently extended the partnership until 2013. It is the first ballet company ever formed in Australia with 32 dancers from all over the world performing four seasons per year at the most beautiful venues in Perth.
