Tea in the Tower
31 January 2011
2010 saw more than 2,000 seniors visit Level 46 and enjoy the best views of the Perth city and Swan River. Alongside our tea, treats and terrific surprises, the Tea in the Tower event included a noted local historian and senior herself, Ruth Marchant James, providing interesting information on the settlement and development of Perth.
Seniors also experienced the West Australian Ballet perform a ‘grand pas de deux’ (duet) from The Sleeping Beauty, as well as the rugby players from the Emirates Western Force alongside new coach, Richard Graham, mingled with seniors and happily signed autographs. The Seniors received free gifts, and many got their gifts signed to take home for family members.
Bankwest were extra pleased to host their most senior guest of all time, at an impressive age of 104. 2010 marked our guest’s first visit to Tea in the Tower, as in previous years she had thought she would have to climb the stairs to Level 46. But since learning we had an elevator, thought it was Perth’s ‘must attend’ event of the year.
Our Bankwest regional WA stores also hosted morning teas in recognition of seniors in their areas. We are looking forward to treating our seniors again in 2011.
