HOPE – Bankwest staff volunteering once a month
11 February 2011
HOPE is a wonderful organisation Bankwest is very proud to be associated with; it’s all about Helping Out People Everywhere. Once a month our staff volunteer for HOPE, supporting Perth’s homeless by providing food, clean donated clothing, fresh showers, blankets, personal hygiene products and referral services.
HOPE can only exist with donations and the input of its kind-hearted volunteers. The office is run from beneath Perth’s Metro Church, which is a donated space.
HOPE’s aim is to not only relieve poverty and distress but to help provide a future for disadvantaged West Australians. HOPE helps all people in crisis – without ever passing judgement. People benefiting from HOPE’s services range from low income families to the homeless and anybody going through troubling times.
The last volunteering day was February 8 and involved preparing, cooking and serving lunch for those in need. All meals are made from scratch and cooked on the premises. Volunteers also pack food parcels and sort through donated clothes. Once food and drinks are served, there’s a chance to sit down, eat and mingle with the clients. HOPE is managed by Yvonne Mulder and Bankwest is proud to work with an agency that has changed many hundreds of lives. The volunteering day for February was Tuesday, 8th.
