Happy School Tours – visiting the Bankwest Tower
20 July 2011
If you saw a group of young Christchurch Grammar students skipping excitedly around the Bankwest Tower recently, you’d be forgiven for thinking the lads were en route to see Miley Cyrus – such was their enthusiasm!
But the boys were simply taking part in this year’s first Happy School Tour, and we’re pleased to report they loved the experience. Introduced by Dan O’Neill, Head of Retail Services, the Happy School Tours aim to show off our iconic building and brilliant views to those who don’t get to enjoy it on a daily basis; particularly school kids.
This first tour was held on a Friday morning for two hours. The children enjoyed visiting the Palace store, the Museum, a secret safe on Level 4 and they then travelled all the way up to Level 46. They were even shown how to withdraw money from an ATM. (While it may not seem that exciting for adults, the kids were so over-the-moon it seemed unfair to drag them away!)
Dan O’Neill – whose son was on the tour – joined in on the fun. “The kids had great fun and the parents and teachers were very impressed about how happy everyone is,” he said. Dan is looking forward to many more tours with happy kids in the coming months!
