Day 25: Horizontal Bar for the PCYC Bunbury Gymnastics Academy

WA4Ever

21 January 2013

We’re giving a big thumbs up to the Police and Community Youth Centre in Bunbury for the work they’re doing for the local community. This not for profit group provides a variety of recreational and sporting activities, plus crime prevention initiatives for the Greater Bunbury region. Programs range from Kindy Gym and Boxercise, to Police Rangers and Defence School.

The Gymnastics Academy is the largest program in the club, with 352 gymnasts enrolled across 20 classes. In 2012, the Academy had a great year with 52 gymnasts attending regional competition in Bunbury, and 28 making it to state competition in Perth.

The cost of gymnastics equipment upkeep unfortunately places great financial pressure on the club. So we’re happy to provide a Happy Communities Grant to support the purchase of a wall mounted horizontal bar. That hopefully means the Academy can work towards an even more successful year in 2013!
