Bankwest supports the Bushfire Recovery
20 February 2011
As Roleystone residents pick up the pieces in the aftermath of the tragic bushfires, Bankwest is pleased to donate $100,000 to the Lord Mayor’s Distress Relief Fund. We’ve also donated $20,000 to Lifeline, the crisis support service which is instrumental in helping people deal with the anguish surrounding such loss.
With the local communities facing a long rebuilding process, Bankwest is proud to be able to lend a hand along this difficult journey. Also, Bankwest customers whose work or personal circumstances have been impacted by the bushfires will be supported via a range of options, to help them get back on their feet again.
Lifeline WA CEO Amanda Wheeler told us that the $20,000 means Lifeline will be able to answer 1,000 additional calls over the next 12 months.
“Natural disasters create considerable distress and anguish. As a result of the bushfires, we can expect our resources to be stretched not just for now, but in coming months. We’re grateful for the donation from Bankwest, which will help ensure Lifeline WA continues to be available to support those needing assistance,” said Ms Wheeler.
To support the Lord Mayor’s Distress Relief Fund, donations can be made over the counter at Bankwest or on the internet to the Bankwest appeal account – BSB 306089 and account number 2770615.
