Aspiring Youngsters Join the Bankwest Force for a Day

West Australian junior rugby players were treated to a unique experience as they got amongst the action of an Emirates Western Force training session as part of the ‘Force Player for a Day’ experience, proudly supported by Bankwest.
The enthusiastic bunch of youngsters kicked off the day with a warm up and ball skills session with the Emirates Western Force squad followed by breakdown work, ball familiarisation and a gruelling thirty minute fitness session. Head Coach Richard Graham, Ben McCalman, David Pocock, Rory Sidey and Gene Fairbanks addressed the group after the training session and encouraged them to work hard at their rugby now to reap the benefits in the future.
Graham was extremely impressed with the efforts of the boys in the hot conditions. “The kids today saw what it takes to be a professional player and their commitment was obvious. The skills on display were very impressive,” said Graham.
Following the morning session they headed back to the Emirates Western Force gym and shared lunch with some of the senior players before being putthrough a resistance training program, a lesson on nutrition and finally a recovery session in the hot and cold spas. The recovery session certainly shocking a few of the youngsters with the cold spa set to a bone chilling four degrees!
The day finished with the players breaking into groups and working on skills specific to their playing position. Overall the day was a huge success, the participants heading home exhaustedbut with a better understanding of what it takes to be an Emirates Western Force player.
