At Bankwest we like making people happy so we’ve built a website that’s both accessible and easy to use.

The following information, along with some handy tips about your computer settings have been provided to help make navigating the Bankwest website a happier experience.


Changing text size

Is the text too small or too big? That’s ok, you can increase or decrease the size of the text by using your browser’s text size option.

  • Microsoft Internet Explorer

    1. click on 'View' located in the menu bar at the top of the window
    2. from the sub-menu select 'Text Size' to open another sub-menu from which you can select your desired font size
    3. experiment with the different font sizes until you find one that best suits you

  • Mozilla Firefox

    1. click on 'View' located in the menu bar at the top of the window
    2. from the Zoom sub-menu you can change how a page is zoomed depending on whether the Zoom Text Only option is:
      • ticked - only the font size will change when you select zoom in or out
      • un-ticked - the whole page, including images, layout and other items will increase
    3. experiment with increasing and decreasing the zoom until you find a font size that best suits you

  • Safari

    1. hold down the command key on your keyboard. On Macintosh computers, the command key is indicated by an Apple or a cloverleaf symbol
    2. press the '+' key to increase the font size or the '-' key to decrease the font size. Do this while still holding down the command key
    3. stop when you've reached a font size that you can read easily
  • Google Chrome

    1. while holding down the 'CTRL' key, scroll the mouse wheel or use '+' and '-' to adjust the font size to a comfortable reading size

Screen width & resolution

The Bankwest website is best viewed on a range of screen resolutions from 1024 wide x 768 deep, to 1280 wide x 1024 deep. Simply grab the lower right corner of your browser to expand or contract the view to suit your screen.


Browser compatibility

The Bankwest website can be viewed on all of the popular web browsers, including:

  • Internet Explorer (versions 9+)
  • Firefox (version 28+)
  • Safari (versions 5+)
  • Chrome (version 32+)

You can download the latest version of Internet Explorer from the Microsoft website .

 

Enabling JavaScript

JavaScript is a programming language that is used to make websites more interactive. For example, it allows Bankwest to provide you with dynamic tools, like being able to save & compare products and having easy to access contact details through the ‘need assistance’ link on our global page footer.

The Bankwest website is best viewed if you have JavaScript enabled on your computer. Please note, if JavaScript is not enabled on your computer some content may be incorrectly displayed and you may miss important information. You can do this by taking the following steps:

  • Internet Explorer

    1. in your browser select the 'Tools’ menu and select ‘Internet Options’
    2. from the ‘Security’ tab, click on ‘Custom Level’
    3. scroll down to ‘Java Permissions’, click to select ‘High Safety’
    4. click the ‘OK’ options until the box closes
    5. close your browser and open a new browser window
  • Mozilla Firefox

    1. on the ‘Tools' menu, click ‘Options’
    2. click on the ‘Content’ icon
    3. check the box next to ‘Enable JavaScript’
    4. click the ‘Advanced’ button to open the ‘Advanced JavaScript Options’ box
    5. check the boxes under ‘Allow Scripts’ next to the sections that you want to allow
    6. click 'OK' until the box closes

  • Safari

    1. select ‘Safari‘ from the top menu
    2. select ‘Preferences’
    3. select ‘Security’
    4. select the checkbox next to ‘Enable JavaScript’

Please note, that if you are on a shared network and don’t have administrator rights, you may not be able to make these changes.

Enabling Cookies

Cookies are small files which are stored on your computer. They enable you to be recognised when you revisit a website, and for the content you’re viewing to be personalised to your specific needs.

To enable cookies on your browser, take the following steps:

  • Internet Explorer 8.0

    1. click on the ‘Tools' menu in Internet Explorer
    2. click ‘Internet Options’ and select the ‘Privacy’ tab
    3. set the slider to 'Medium'
    4. click on ‘Sites’ and add bankwest.com.au
    5. click on ‘Allow’
    6. click ‘OK’ until the pop-up closes

  • Mozilla Firefox

    1. click on the ‘Tools’ menu in Firefox
    2. click ‘Options’ and select ‘Privacy’
    3. check ‘Accept cookies from sites’
    4. check ‘Accept third-party cookies’
    5. next to the ‘Keep Until’ drop down box, select ‘They expire’
    6. click ‘OK’

      Alternatively, if you want to choose the sites that you’re happy to accept cookies from, you can do the following:

      1. click on the ‘Tools’ menu in Firefox'
      2. click ‘Options’ and select ‘Privacy'
      3. uncheck ‘Accept cookies from sites’
      4. click ‘Exceptions’
      5. in the ‘Address of the website’ box, enter bankwest.com.au
      6. click ‘Allow’
      7. click ‘Close’
      8. click ‘OK’
  • Safari

    1. click on the cog icon in Safari
    2. click 'Preferences' and select the ‘Security’ tab
    3. next to the ‘Accept cookies’ option, select ‘only from sites I visit’
    4. close the pop-up

      Alternatively, you can do the following:

      1. click on the cog icon in Safari
      2. click 'Preferences' and select the ‘Security’ tab
      3. next to the ‘Accept cookies options’, select ‘always’
      4. close the pop-up box


PDFs

At some point while using our site, you may want to download a form or some other handy information. We provide most of these as PDFs, although in some instances we do try and provide an online alternative – particularly where security is important such as on enquiry forms.

Please be aware that not all PDF documents are capable of being viewed when the Website is accessed using a mobile device. We advise that all PDFs be viewed on a desktop computer.

You need to have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed to read and download PDFs, which you can download from the Adobe website. But, if you’d prefer to have your own hard copy version, you can contact us and we’re happy to send it through to you.
