Code of Banking Practice

  • Print this page

The Code sets out the banking industry's key commitments and obligations to customers on standards of practice, disclosure and principles of conduct.

The Code of Banking Practice was first introduced in 1993. A revised version of the Code of Banking Practice, developed in consultation with subscribing banks and consumer and business groups, was released in 2002. Further modifications to the Code of Banking Practice were published in May 2004.

Under clause 38 of the Code, Bankwest has produced some guidelines to provide customers with information relating to how Bankwest will deal with applications relating to transfers of mortgages and titles, and otherwise enforce debts affected by Family Law property settlements.
