Community Engagement is about using the resources we have on hand to make a real difference in the community.
This year we have pledged our support to our two partner charities, Redkite and Edmund Rice Camp for Kids. By financially supporting these two amazing charities we can bring some happiness to kids and their families, around Australia, who are doing it tough.
But it’s not just about being a good corporate citizen, our people also get behind these charities by donating their free time to help out in whatever way is needed.
Bankwest colleagues also have the opportunity to make donations to Redkite and Edmund Rice Camps for Kids directly from their pay through our Workplace Giving initiative.
Redkite is a charity that provides real support to children, young people and their families through cancer and it has remained their only focus for 25 years.
Currently there are approximately 5,000 families affected by childhood and adolescent cancer in Australia.
Redkite is there with real and practical support for the whole family from the moment of diagnosis, throughout treatment and when families return home to the community.
Redkite provides financial assistance, emotional support and education assistance. Emotional support within the hospital environment is provided through social workers and music therapists, and support within the community includes telephone and email counselling, bereavement support and family days.
Edmund Rice Camps for Kids WA Inc is a non-profit community based organisation that serves the needs of kids (aged 7-16) and their families. They provide camps and other recreational and developmental activities for kids who would not otherwise have such opportunities, supporting kids who are 'at risk' or experiencing some form of disadvantage.
Edmund Rice Camps for Kids WA also supports and encourages the growth and development of young adult volunteers, through empowering them to assist those in need in the community.
In addition to supporting our two charity partners, we also partner with the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) in Western Australia. This partnership reflects Bankwest’s commitment to being part of the WA community and also helps to support the essential work of the RFDS.
The Royal Flying Doctor Service is a life-saver for those living, working and traveling in rural and remote areas as well as being an iconic Aussie service… so Bankwest is proud to play a part in helping to raise funds for the Royal Flying Doctor Service in Western Australia (WA). Donations to the Royal Flying Doctors Service in WA can be made at any one of our WA stores.
Bankwest has partnered with United Way, a 120 year old not-for-profit organisation, to help us deliver our Community Engagement program.
