The Bankwest Art Collection has been in existence since the 1970s and consists of some 500 works that focus on WA art including paintings, prints, works on paper, sculpture and ceramics, in the styles of abstract, landscape and figurative.
The Bankwest Art Prize was established in 2001 and is considered the State's most prestigious art prize and is awarded exclusively to WA artists.
The collection is displayed via curated exhibitions installed in the Bankwest Art Gallery, located at Bankwest Place in the CBD at 300 Murray Street, Perth.
As an organisation that has been around in Western Australia since 1895, starting as the Agricultural Bank of Western Australia then the Rural and Industries Bank of Western Australia (affectionately known as the R&I), and finally Bank of Western Australia trading under the name Bankwest, we understand the importance history.
Over this time we have come to acquire and collect many artefacts, banking memorabilia and archives, which we will be proudly displaying in 2015 to celebrate our 120th anniversary.
