Bankwest Chairman Ian Mackenzie today announced two new Western Australian appointments to the Bankwest Board of Directors. Harvey Collins and Bob McKinnon will join the Board effective immediately. Mr Mackenzie said a strong and effective executive board presence in Perth was key to the shareholder's commitment to maintain and grow the Bankwest brand.
"Both these appointments bring relevant experience and breadth to the Bankwest Board," Mr Mackenzie said.
"Harvey Collins has experience both at the operational and director level of a number of prominent Western Australian companies.
"Bob McKinnon has held senior executive positions with a range of Western Australian companies and will strengthen our commercial oversight capabilities."
Harvey Collins has held Executive positions at Western Power Corporation and Chieftain Securities Limited, and was formerly Chief Financial Officer at Challenge Bank Ltd.
He is currently Chairman of HBF Health Funds Inc, Navitas Limited, Deputy Chairman of Verve Energy and Director of GESB Superannuation Fund and Brierty Limited.
Mr Collins holds a Bachelor of Business from the Western Australian Institute of Technology and a Graduate Diploma in Financial Studies from the University of Strathclyde in Scotland. He is a Fellow, and WA State Councillor of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, a Fellow of the Australian Society of CPAs and a Senior Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia.
Bob McKinnon is currently Managing Director of Fleetwood Corporation Limited and was Managing Director of Western Australian shipbuilder Austal Limited for five years. He previously held senior positions with Capral Aluminium Limited and Alcan Australia Limited. Mr McKinnon was formerly Chairman of the Australian Shipbuilders Association and was a nonexecutive director of OAMPS Limited.
Mr McKinnon is a Fellow of CPA Australia and the Chartered Secretaries Australia.
Mr Mackenzie announced that with the addition of two non-executive directors to the Board, General Counsel and Secretary Sue Wilson will resign her Board position but continue in her executive role with the Bank.
Bankwest Managing Director, Jon Sutton, welcomed both Directors to the Board and said he looked forward to working with them.
