Bankwest Carnarvon is heading for a strong start to 2009 with an increase in staff and a refurbishment and upgrade of the branch on Robinson Street.
Full repaint, new carpet, furniture throughout and technology upgrades have transformed the branch.
Bankwest Carnarvon Relationship Manager Gai Boyland has just celebrated her 14th year with Bankwest and says she is excited about moving forward with the bank, under its new Commonwealth Bank of Australia ownership.
"Being a part of CBA means we will have access to greater resources and an enhanced range of products including leasing, commodity products and rate risk products. Our customers will also be able to use CBA ATMs for free from March," Ms Boyland said.
She said the Carnarvon team was also well equipped to deal with any challenges which may arise and this has been made easier with the addition of the latest staff member, Shantelle Copes, who transferred from the retail to the rural and regional division.
"Shantelle is a local Carnarvon girl whose customer service skills and product knowledge is outstanding. Employment of Shantelle to the business line shows our bank and non-bank business customers that Bankwest is a presence in the district and is invested in the township," Ms Boyland said.
Bankwest's Rural and Regional State Manager Michael Kettle said the expansion of the Carnarvon store and the employment of Ms Copes showed Bankwest's ongoing commitment to business in rural and regional Western Australia.
"We have been in Carnarvon for more than 40 years and, as it is the largest regional centre in the Gascoyne, with a significant diversity of strong industries, we are thrilled about our expansion and being able to offer market leading service and a market leading suite of products", Mr Kettle said.
