Bankwest shuts off for Earth Hour

13 March 2009

Bankwest is getting behind Earth Hour on Saturday 28 March 2009 and will turn out the lights in our capital city offices and branches around Australia.

Bankwest Manager Environmental Sustainability James Peacock said Bankwest was proud to be involved in Earth Hour since its inception in 2007 and support the World Wide Fund (WWF) in the fight against global warming.

"Bankwest is joining more than 80 countries and 825 cities committed to turning off their lights for one hour to show their support for action against climate change," Mr Peacock said.

"Earth Hour is just one way Bankwest can support the fight against global warming along with other initiatives including running our 'Flick the Switch' and 'Stamp our Standby Power' campaigns to encourage staff to reduce their carbon footprint."

Bankwest is also encouraging suppliers and customers to join in the fight against global warming.  Customers wanting to participate can find out more at WWF or the Earth Hour website at www.wwf.org.au or www.earthhour.org

Earth Hour will take place on Saturday 28 March from 8.30pm - 9.30pm (local time) so join Bankwest and turn out your lights to show your support.
