Experienced banker for Narrogin

10 January 2008

BankWest has appointed experienced agribusiness banker Darren Gooding as the new Senior Manager for Narrogin and the Upper Great Southern.

Darren has twenty-five years experience with BankWest in rural and regional banking and has worked for all but two years in the broadacre farming areas of the Great Southern, Central, Eastern and Northern Wheatbelt.

Darren said he was looking forward to meeting the bank's customers in the region and further developing the portfolio.

"I've spent my entire career in rural and regional areas and I'm pleased to be coming back to Narrogin after 11 years," he said.

BankWest Rural and Regional State Manager Jim Watson said that while 2007 was dry in parts of the region, the high commodity prices for grain helped many farmers end the year positively.

"There's no doubt 2007 was good for some farmers and not so good for others but the outlook for 2008 is looking very positive with strong commodity prices continuing," he said.

"Some farmers in the Narrogin region had a very good year last year so we hope it continues this year on a broader level and we are here to speak with customers if they need to look at financing options for the New Year," he said.

Darren can be contacted at the branch on 9881 9510.
