On Saturday 29 March BankWest will turn out lights in our capital city | ![]() |
To date Sydney, Perth, Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide, Canberra and Hobart plus 22 international cities have agreed to support the initiative, which was held for the first time in Sydney last year. Households and businesses in these cities are encouraged to turn off their lights for one hour from 8pm local time on Saturday 29 March.
There are many ways you can support the initiative. Practice Earth Hour every day at home, school or work by following the World Wide Fund's online advice or pledge your individual support at www.earthhour.org.
Along with turning out the lights during Earth Hour, BankWest is supporting a number of initiatives including a cash donation to the campaign, supporting colleagues taking an active role in the WA Earth Hour organising committee and running internal 'Flick the Switch' and 'Stamp out Standby Power' awareness campaigns to encourage staff to reduce our environmental footprint.
What can you do to take action against global warming?
