BankWest, part of the HBOS Australia group, has appointed Peter Chambers as Victorian State Manager, Commercial Banking to lead and invigorate an aggressive growth strategy for its division.
As Australia's fastest growing business bank, fuelled by an aggressive national recruitment strategy, Peter's appointment is key in further enabling BankWest to grow its Victorian commercial banking presence.
Head of Commercial Banking, Gary Johnson, said BankWest was looking to become a leading commercial bank in Australia and that it was an added bonus to promote Peter to this role as he was already part of the BankWest team.
"Peter has been part of BankWest commercial in Victoria since 2005 in senior roles. His promotion demonstrates BankWest's commitment to our customers in Victoria as we have appointed an experienced leader who already knows the commercial banking business and can hit the ground running," Mr. Johnson said.
Mr. Chambers is a highly skilled and well respected career banker in Victoria with more than twenty years experience in the finance industry working predominantly in corporate and commercial banking. He has held business development and leadership roles with both NAB and GE Commercial.
He decided to join BankWest back in 2005 because he felt that they were serious about delivering outcomes and adding value to their customer's business.

This new role offers me the chance to lead the team and continue to grow the Victorian business. We are in an exciting growth phase within a competitive market so we are always trying harder for our customers," Mr. Chambers said.
Mr. Chambers said the existing talent in the Victorian commercial banking team was strong and BankWest had a high quality customer base that he planned on expanding.
"We are well positioned to grow and we have recently begun a recruitment drive to grow our capabilities and attract high performing commercial bankers," he said.
Peter said BankWest was well placed to attract the right kind of staff to its commercial banking division because of its backing by HBOS Australia and HBOS plc.

Peter has a Bachelor of Business Degree from Monash University and spends his spare time with his wife and twin boys and is also a committee member of the St Kilda Cricket Club.
