Rapidly growing HBOS Australia subsidiary, BankWest, has selected Goondiwindi as the most recent location for its expanding east coast operations.
A recently opened BankWest Business Banking Centre at 153 Marshall St Goondiwindi will allow BankWest to service customers throughout the Goondiwindi, St George, Moree and surrounding areas and is the bank's first Business Banking centre in the region.
Head of Rural and Regional Banking, Jamie Ritchie said Goondiwindi was selected because the region had excellent growth potential and is an important region in Queensland.
"The new Business Banking Centre is an important addition to the Goondiwindi region with BankWest providing specialised industry knowledge to support the needs of growing local business," Mr Ritchie said.
"Like many parts of Australia, Goondiwindi is experiencing drought however the farming industry is strong and we expect the region will experience significant growth over the next few years."
As part of its expansion in Goondiwindi, BankWest has appointed experienced banker Michael Cleary as Business Development Manager for the region.
Mr Cleary has almost ten years banking experience in rural and regional Australia and previously worked for NAB and the Commonwealth Bank. He has spent the last three years in Goondiwindi and knows the region well.
"As a bank, we are driving competition and change in the banking industry by providing specialised industry experts who have the knowledge to bring the financial know-how to the specific farming industries in Goondiwindi including cotton, wheat, sorghum, cattle and sheep farming," Mr Cleary said.
BankWest Head of Rural and Regional Jamie Ritchie said the appointment of Mr Cleary is part of a move by BankWest to strengthen its commitment to Queensland business in the Goondiwindi region.
