BankWest, part of the HBOS Australia group, has appointed Stewart Clark as Regional Manager of its Commercial Banking division for Victoria's south-east region. In the role, Mr Clark will lead BankWest's regional operation in its continual growth strategy.
As Australia's fastest growing business bank; fuelled by an aggressive national recruitment strategy, Mr Clark's appointment is key in further enabling BankWest to grow its Victorian Commercial Banking presence.
Speaking about the appointment, Victorian Commercial State Manager, Peter Chambers said: "We have a growth strategy in place to position BankWest as one of Australia's leading Commercial Banks, and having Stewart on board within this pivotal role forms an integral part of our plan. His experience as a leader and his in-depth understanding of the Commercial Banking sector more than equips him with the necessary skills to effectively engage with our core market."
Mr Clark is a highly skilled and well respected commercial banker in Victoria, with more than 20 years experience in the finance industry. He joins BankWest from (NAB) where he began his banking career in 1987. Clark most recently held the position of Regional Executive within Business and Private Banking.
He made the decision to join BankWest because of its excellent customer proposition and to take on the challenge of fostering strong growth within the business.
"The south-east region is staffed by experienced bankers with a strong network of opportunities. This new role provides me with an opportunity to lead the team and advance the growth of the Victorian business. We have a strong staff-to-client ratio, which puts us in an excellent position and allows us to provide a superior offering," Mr Clark said.
Mr Clark says that while the local market is buoyant, it is also very competitive, but with a high- performing integrated team, he expects to see strong results.
"We are in a growth area, so our team will provide real business opportunities with an aggressive and fresh alternative to the traditional majors," he said. "And with the backing of HBOS Australia and its global parent, HBOS plc, we have considerable strength, capability and resources at our fingertips for support."
