BankWest, part of the HBOS Australia group, has appointed experienced private banker Allan Snadden in Western Australia as it continues to grow its private banking division nationally.
Mr Snadden, formerly of Westpac, will take up the position of Senior Private Client Manager under the leadership of Director of Private Client Banking WA, Nicole Puado.
BankWest Head of Corporate Banking, Bob Beard, said private banking in Western Australia was seeing rapid growth as a result of the current economic boom.
"We are certainly seeing an increase in the number of customers who fall into the private banking category as a result of the boom in Western Australia," Mr Beard said.
"We expect to see this trend continue as buoyant economic conditions endure."
Allan Snadden brings twenty-nine years of experience from Westpac and said the challenge of private banking was to ensure customers see his role as an adviser rather than a bank manager.
"Customers are warming to the concept of a Private Banker as it provides them with old fashioned personalised service, something which has been lacking in the financial industry but is now making a comeback," Mr Snadden said.
"Private banking customers want to be able to pick up the phone and hear a familiar voice who understands their position without the need to repeat previous discussions."
Mr Snadden said many customers in private banking are time poor and the role of the private banker was to help customers with their financial needs with a minimal fuss.
"It's essential for a private banker to become a customer's trusted adviser and become their first point of contact for advice on a financial problem," he said. "That's my goal in this job."
BankWest private banking customers have access to an extensive range of products and services through the HBOS Australia Group, a wholly owned subsidiary of HBOS plc, which is one of the world's largest financial groups.
BankWest Private Banking requires customers to have net assets of $2million or an annual income over $250,000.
