BankWest, part of the HBOS Australia group, has appointed experienced aged care expert Nick Carter as National Director Retirement Living and Aged Care to lead and invigorate an aggressive industry specialisation strategy for its Commercial Banking division.
Industry specialisation is an important part of BankWest's strategy and Nick will lead BankWest's work in this growing sector and will continue to provide clients with market leading products, policies and people.
Gary Johnson, Head of Commercial Banking said the appointment of Nick demonstrates BankWest's continued commitment to the aged care sector.
"BankWest will continue to build a sustainable point of difference, so we need strong and experienced industry leaders like Nick who brings a wealth of knowledge to this position. It is a pleasure to have Nick on board to head up this important industry specialisation sector and lead our already successful national team," Mr. Johnson said.
BankWest is currently going through a major east coast expansion and Nick's appointment to this role which will be based in Sydney is an important step in further enabling BankWest to grow its presence in this area.
A highly skilled and well respected banker, Nick has been at the forefront of the funding arena to the retirement industry for the last seven years. He most recently held the senior position of Head of Retirement Living and Aged Care at Adelaide Bank, and previous to this was the NSW and VIC State Manager for the Aged Care sector, also for Adelaide Bank. In addition, Nick has 17 years experience with Westpac.
Nick said he was delighted to join BankWest at such an exciting point in its growth. BankWest is stepping up its assault on the Australian banking industry with the roll-out of a new retail and commercial banking network. It is the largest branch expansion program ever undertaken in Australia and will challenge the dominance of the Big Four banks.
"BankWest is determined to grow its business by doing things differently and really focusing on the client and this is clearly an exciting time to join the organisation," he said.
"The Aged Care sector is one that is a concern for all Australians and always in the public eye. It is diverse and challenging and I am looking forward to helping clients grow their business by providing a specialised service to all their banking needs," Mr. Carter said.
