BankWest continues its major expansion on the east coast of Australia, with the Toowoomba Rural and Regional Banking team moving to new premises to cater for future growth and their increasing customer base.
The BankWest team are still in Ruthven St, Toowoomba but have moved down the road to a bigger and better location that will allow the specialist regional team to expand and continue to provide excellent customer service to a growing number of businesses in the area.
BankWest Chief Manager of Rural and Regional Banking East, David Traynor said the Toowoomba region has long been regarded as one of the safest rural production areas in Australia.
"Despite the current dry conditions, the local economy remains strong. BankWest's rural and regional banking on the East Coast has experienced 100% annual growth for the past two years and this continues in 2006," he said.
The relocation to BankWest House, 516 Ruthven St, is part of BankWest's aggressive growth strategy, which has seen it open new business banking centres across Australia and embark on an extensive recruitment drive.
With a population over 100,000 Toowoomba has a substantial commercial base and BankWest has been helping agribusinesses and commercial businesses throughout the region since the launch of the Toowoomba office in 2002.
"The move will offer business customers better access to the bank and increase our profile in Toowoomba. We are growing our business on the East Coast and helping business in rural and regional Queensland grow their business too. We are committed to continue delivering a better deal to business and primary producers in the Toowoomba region," Mr Traynor said.
The Toowoomba team includes Business Development Managers Michael Green and Brett Oates, Relationship Manager Leighton Saal, Assistant Relationship Manager Brian Taaffe and Relationship Support Office Sandra Hay.
Business Development Manager Michael Green said the team focuses on providing personalised service to commercial and agribusiness clients in the area.
"Many businesses in Toowoomba have already experienced our fresh approach and our flexible range of business products to support the growing needs of businesses in the region. With five full-time staff and our new larger premises, we are well positioned to provide this approach to even more businesses in the area," Mr Green said.
Mr Traynor said BankWest's Toowoomba regional operations grew significantly last year.
"This success has a lot to do with the fact that we have specialist regional bank managers on board with strong local knowledge and the experience to provide a comprehensive range of financial services to the commercial and agribusiness sectors," he said.
