BankWest is continuing to make its mark on the corporate banking industry, with the appointment of Paul Mazzola as NSW State Manager, Corporate Banking.
Continuing with BankWest's expansion across the eastern seaboard, Paul's appointment to this new position is part of the Corporate and Business division's extensive recruitment drive that is bringing a wealth of talent to the bank.
"Paul is ideally suited to lead our expansion in NSW. BankWest is looking to build its position as a leading corporate and commercial bank in Australia, and Paul's leadership qualities and substantial industry experience, along with his strong relationships in the banking industry, will be invaluable," said Bob Beard, Head of Corporate Banking.
"BankWest is challenging the status quo, expanding across the nation and recruiting high-calibre bankers. We are the fastest growing business bank and because we're growing, we're working harder to grow the businesses of our customers," Mr Beard said.
With more than twenty years experience in the banking market in Australia and Asia, Paul is well regarded in the banking industry. Paul has experience in various roles with
European banks; BNP and Erste Bank and he was also Director of Strategy with ING Investment Management for the Asia Pacific market.
More recently, Paul was the Regional Executive for Corporate Banking in Sydney for ANZ and he successfully managed the highest performing region within this division.
BankWest's commitment to customers, staff, user-friendly processes and innovation were what attracted Paul to the role.
"BankWest's ability to offer a quick turnaround time means we can deliver a superior level of service. The potential to build long term relationships off the back of our solutions driven philosophy will certainly provide a distinct competitive advantage," Paul said.
"I was keen to join BankWest because I saw that the bank is different. We're able to offer customers a better deal because we're flexible, transparent and don't have the bureaucracy of other large organisations," Paul said.
With a diverse background covering the full spectrum of financial services as well as expertise in strategic consulting, Paul said he is looking forward to being part of the BankWest success story.
"BankWest has significant growth plans. We're recruiting highly experienced bankers who are adding value and the combination of our people and our flexible and creative approach means we're successfully taking on the market and improving the way corporate banking is done," Paul said.
With the backing of HBOS plc, one of the largest banks in the world, Paul says BankWest is looking to become a major player as a full financial services provider in the Australian market, and he will be delivering this message to the market.
Paul holds a Bachelor of Commerce, a Masters of Applied Finance and is also a Senior Associate with the Financial Services Institute of Australia.
